This month’s topic “Music to Enjoy” will be fun and exciting for the children and staff! Music helps us embrace the world around us. It is everywhere! It is so diverse and yet the same. It evokes in all of us an array of feelings as it entertains, enlightens and encourages.

Children enjoy simple rhythmic beats, tempos and melodies as well as finger-play songs and sing-a-longs. Musical activities such as singing, dancing and playing with musical instruments help children develop an appreciation for music. In fact, this appreciation can begin even with newborns. One can just see this when a baby is lulled to sleep with a lullaby.

The goal of a Montessori education is to develop, to the fullest, the child’s body, mind and spirit. Music helps toward this goal as it also integrates the child’s personality and builds good social skills.

The children will get the opportunity to learn the different genres of music, the artist and musicians that create them as well as the history behind them. Maybe this month will bring back fond memories of the music you enjoyed when you were young.

Enjoy every moment!
