Famous Montessori Graduates

Proven by Research

Montessori Schools across the globe have been responsible for the early childhood education of some of the world’s best and brightest minds and talents.

It’s no accident that these Montessori alumni have achieved great things later in their lives. A 2006 research study published in the journal Science, found that children who received a Montessori education went on to perform much better in school than their peers who received a traditional preschool education. In fact, “by the end of kindergarten, the Montessori children performed better on standardized tests of reading and math, engaged in more positive interaction on the playground, and showed more advanced social cognition and executive control. They also showed more concern for fairness and justice. At the end of elementary school, Montessori children wrote more creative essays with more complex sentence structures, selected more positive responses to social dilemmas, and reported feeling more of a sense of community at their school.”

Take Their Word For It

According to Marissa Mayer, CEO of Yahoo, in talking about Google founders, “You can’t understand Google unless you know that both Larry and Serge were both Montessori kids….They’re always asking, why should it be like that?  It’s the way their brains were programmed early on.”

Larry Page says about himself and Google Co-founder, “We both went to Montessori school and I think it was part of that training…being self-motivated, questioning what is going on in the world, doing things a little bit differently.”

Will Sims says, “Sim City comes right out of Montessori…it’s all about learning on your own terms.”

Gabriel Garcia Marquez, winner of the Nobel Prize in Literature, states “I do not believe there is a method better than Montessori for making children sensitive to the beauties of the world and awakening their curiosity regarding the secrets of life.”

Dakota Fanning, the youngest ever Screen Actor’s Award Nominee, and history’s youngest Academy Member, recalls “I learned to read at two…in a Montessori School where they teach you to read really, really young.”
