Welcome
My name is Tina Nugent and I am the Owner/Director of Cherry Hill Montessori Learning Center. I am proud to be part of a Montessori environment that inspires a lifetime of learning and helps students grow confidently. In our school, your child will experience an academic curriculum appropriate for his/her level of readiness, in a warm, nurturing environment. We differentiate ourselves through our highly-qualified, committed staff, our unique curriculum, our specially-designed school house and school grounds, and our welcoming, supportive school community.
History
My commitment to the Montessori Program began in 1993 when my two oldest children were students at the School. I did not have an extensive knowledge of the philosophy when I enrolled them, but soon became intrigued and fascinated with its operations and results. I observed that the Program provided not only a powerful academic base, but also instilled a strong sense of self-confidence in my two young boys, and an unusual interest in learning. I observed that their minds “absorbed” language, math and other subjects, while they thought they were “playing,” and they learned social skills that, to me, were extremely important, such as respect for other children and courtesy. I saw that a Montessori education is not only an academic one; it is also an education that promotes the development of the whole child. I saw that this was not a cliché in the context of a Montessori Program.
In 1994, I was presented with the opportunity to purchase the School and thereafter commenced operations as Montessori Learning Center. All Staff members continued with me, including the exceptional Caryl Founds, our Montessori Director for 35 years. Several of our original Staff members are still with us.
In 2002, I gave up my law practice to devote my work time to Montessori. All of my children have attended the School as have my nine nieces and nephews, extended relatives and the children of my lifelong friends and neighbors. We recently updated the school's name to Cherry Hill Montessori Learning Center.
Serving as Director of this school is one of the most rewarding experiences in my life.

Commitment to Service
I have lived in Cherry Hill all my life and am committed to the community-at-large. I have served in many volunteer executive positions in the community including co-president of a local school’s PTA, the chairperson of committees at my childrens’ schools, and for our local swim club. At the request of Cherry Hill’s Mayor, I volunteered my skills to negotiate the sale of farmland on Springdale Road to the Township resulting in the dedication of this beautiful farm to open space. I have actively worked for the past ten years with an organization in Camden, arranging food drives, coat drives and toy drives to help those less-privileged.
Service is a very important part of our school as well. Our Montessori families actively participate in annual service projects that we promote to help those less privileged. In the past, Montessori Learning Center has sponsored families and provided food, clothing, toys and other presents during the December holidays. Every year, we have food drives at Thanksgiving and in December and the response has been overwhelming. The children have especially loved the toy drive, as it provides them with a unique opportunity to help in a way that they can understand.
